B Mirror Report: After a three-day pause, including a weekly holiday for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, import and export operations at Hili Land Port resumed smoothly on Saturday.
Md. Abdur Rahman, administrative officer of Panama Port Limited, confirmed that normal port activities returned by 3:30 pm. The temporary closure had disrupted the flow of goods, but operations are now running as usual.
Zaman, superintendent of the Hili Land Port Customs Department, reported that several trucks carrying imported items such as corn, spices, and fruits entered Bangladesh from India on Saturday afternoon. Unloading and transfer operations are already underway, restoring the port to its regular pace.
Md. Yusuf Ali, plant quarantine officer at the port, added that import and export activities fully resumed from 12:30 pm, with trucks from India entering the port and goods being shifted to domestic trucks for distribution across the country.
Ferdous Rahman, president of the Hili C&F Agents Association, noted the impact of the brief shutdown from February 11 to 13, which temporarily slowed trade. He welcomed the resumption, emphasizing that goods are now moving steadily between Bangladesh and India.
The reopening of Hili Land Port is expected to ensure smooth continuation of cross-border trade, marking a quick return to normalcy following the election-related closure.
