The Islamic Foundation on Wednesday organized a Quran Khatam and special prayer (dua) at the south plaza of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram to observe July Mass Uprising Day 2026 with due religious solemnity and dignity.
During the programme, held in the morning, special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the souls of those who were martyred during the July Mass Uprising, the speedy and full recovery of the injured, the well-being of their families, and for the country’s peace, stability, progress and prosperity.
The event was attended by Director General (Grade-1) of the Islamic Foundation Hafez Maulana Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi as the chief guest. Director of the Coordination Division Md. Mohiuddin delivered the welcome address, while Director of the Dini Dawah and Culture Division Dr. Mohammad Harunur Rashid presided over the programme. Director of the Zakat Division Dr. Hafez Maulana Waliur Rahman Khan led the special prayers.
Following the completion of the Quran recitation, a special dua and munajat was held at 10:30 am seeking forgiveness for the departed souls of the martyrs. Prayers were also offered for the swift recovery of those injured in the uprising, the welfare of their families, and for national peace, security, development and prosperity.
The congregation also prayed for the protection of Bangladesh’s independence, sovereignty and law and order, greater harmony and social cohesion among the people, and the establishment of a just, humane and welfare-oriented society.
Addressing the gathering, Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi paid tribute to the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising and prayed for the salvation of their souls. He urged everyone to pray for the quick recovery of the injured and the well-being of the affected families.
He said religious scholars and institutions can play a vital role in promoting morality, humanity, compassion and social harmony during times of national crisis. Stressing that Islam teaches peace, justice, humanity and welfare, he called on all citizens to work together for the country’s progress through mutual respect, tolerance and unity.
Directors, deputy directors and officials of the Islamic Foundation, imams and muezzins of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram, religious scholars and other distinguished guests attended the programme.
The event concluded with a final prayer seeking eternal peace for the martyrs, speedy recovery for the injured and the overall welfare of the nation.
