Prime Minister Tarek Rahman on Wednesday inaugurated the much-awaited July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital, marking a significant step in preserving the history and legacy of the July Mass Uprising.

The museum was formally opened at 9:00 am as the prime minister unveiled the inaugural plaque. Former Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, was present at the ceremony.

According to the museum authorities, the facility will remain reserved on its opening day for special guests and members of the families of those who were martyred during the July Mass Uprising. It will be opened to the general public from Thursday, August 6.

Following the inauguration, the prime minister toured the museum’s galleries, viewing exhibits that include artefacts, photographs, official documents and memorabilia related to the uprising.

Visitors will be able to purchase tickets online. Admission has been set at Tk 50 for adults and Tk 25 for children.

The museum has been established to preserve the memory of the July Mass Uprising, present the background and events of the movement, and pass its history on to future generations.

Museum officials said the collection features important documents, photographs, video footage and various memorabilia associated with the uprising, offering visitors a comprehensive understanding of the movement and its historical significance.
