Nazrul Rajbari Correspondent: Under the banner “There is no tolerance for discrimination – we seek a revision of the recruitment policies”, health assistants and assistant health inspectors conducted a sit-in in Rajbari to advocate for the fulfillment of six key demands, which include the revision of recruitment policies, salary structures, and technical ranks.
On Tuesday (July 8), at 8 am, the health assistants initiated the sit-in at the premises of the Civil Surgeon’s Office, organized by the Rajbari District Health Assistant Association. The event continued until 11 am, during which health assistants from five upazilas in Rajbari took part in the sit-in.
The event was led by Abu Naser Ujjal, President of the Rajbari District Health Assistant Association, with SM Sabuj Shaheen, President and District Spokesperson of the Rajbari Sadar Upazila Health Assistant Association, serving as the main speaker. Other speakers included Dipu Mohan Mondal, President of Pangsha Upazila, General Secretary Ariful Islam, Mashiur Rahman, President of Baliakandi Upazila, Hafiza Sultana, President of Goalanda Upazila, Rajbari Health Assistant Mohammad Ali, Health Assistant Uttam Kumar, Assistant Health Inspector Md. Zillur Rahman, among others.
The speakers emphasized that they are persistently advocating and peacefully protesting for their just and reasonable six-point demands. They warned that if their requests are not addressed promptly, they will cease all activities, including the EPI, starting September 1. Therefore, they expressed hope that the authorities will act swiftly to meet their demands.
