Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) recorded transactions worth Tk 2,286.86 crore in shares and units during the outgoing week from August 23 to 27, with 26.33% of the total turnover concentrated in just 10 companies.
According to DSE data, securities of 388 companies were traded during the week. The 10 companies with the highest turnover collectively accounted for more than a quarter of the market’s total trading value.
Sharp Industries led the turnover chart, with its shares generating an average daily transaction of Tk 36.74 crore, equivalent to 6.43% of the DSE’s total weekly turnover.
Among the other top-traded companies, Saiham Textile accounted for 3.46% of the total turnover, followed by Runner Auto with 2.50%, Far Chemical with 2.40%, ML Dyeing with 2.22% and Lovello Ice Cream with 1.98%.
Beximco contributed 1.97% of the weekly turnover, while BRAC Bank accounted for 1.90%. Paramount Textile and Summit Alliance Port contributed 1.81% and 1.66%, respectively.
The concentration of trading in the 10 companies indicates strong investor activity in a relatively small number of stocks during the week.
