Govt. seeks budget support from Japan: Finance Adviser

Bangladesh has asked Japan for budget support. During a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Iwama Kiminori on Monday (August 19), Finance and Trade Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed sought budgetary support from the country.

After the meeting with the ambassador of Japan at the secretariat, the financial adviser said that Japan is a big partner in the development of Bangladesh. They have mainly provided project support for so long. This time they have been asked for budget support. He said that Japan has shown a positive attitude in this regard.

Finance and Trade Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said these things while talking to reporters after the meeting.

Regarding the meeting with the Japanese ambassador, the financial adviser also said that the development projects which are being financed by Japan should continue in Bangladesh. Apart from this, bilateral trade agreements were discussed between the two countries to increase trade and commerce.

Many Bangladeshi students go to study in Japan. The finance advisor has requested that the amount of scholarship to study in Japan be increased.

The Japanese ambassador said that Japan has welcomed the new government of Bangladesh. This government has the ability to lead. His advice to the new government is to emphasize on improving the business environment along with reforming the NBR and various agencies, including the banking sector.
