B.Mirror Desk: The 849th Regular Meeting of the Rotary Club of Dhaka Fort, one of the largest Rotary clubs in Bangladesh, was held with great enthusiasm and fellowship on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, at the DU Management Club in the capital, marking the official launch of Rotary Year 2026–27. Despite persistent rain and waterlogging across the city, a large number of dedicated Rotarians attended the meeting, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to Rotary’s ideals of fellowship and service.
A major highlight of the evening was a Welcome Back Reception accorded to PDG Rtn. Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui, PHS, MD, MPHF, District Governor 2021–22 and Member (Tax Policy) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Club members warmly welcomed him with floral bouquets and a commemorative photograph in recognition of his distinguished leadership, continued guidance, and invaluable contribution to Rotary.
The newly appointed Club Trainer, PDG Rtn. Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui, thanked the members for their warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his prudent guidance, leadership, and mentorship for the sustained growth of the Rotary Club of Dhaka Fort. He expressed his confidence that the club would achieve greater success through unity, active service, and strong fellowship.
The meeting was formally called to order by Club President Rtn. Tanmoy Mazumder, PHF, who also presided over the session.
Addressing the gathering, President Rtn. Tanmoy Mazumder, MPHF outlined his vision for the new Rotary year and emphasized meaningful service projects, stronger fellowship, and active member engagement under the Rotary theme “Create Lasting Impact.”
As July is Rotary’s Maternal and Child Health Month, members held extensive discussions on several impactful service initiatives, including fruit distribution among underprivileged people, tree plantation programmes, nutrition support through the distribution of nutritious food packages for pregnant mothers and children, community-based humanitarian projects, and other sustainable service activities.
The meeting also focused on strengthening fellowship through the planning of a Family Night and special gatherings to celebrate the FIFA World Cup. A lively Rotary quiz competition and lucky-member gift session further enriched the evening and encouraged active participation among members.
Members also discussed participation in the Rotary International Convention 2027, scheduled to be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 26–30 June 2027, and encouraged strong representation from the club at Rotary’s premier international event.
Club Secretary Rtn. Md. Masumul Alam and Club Treasurer Rtn. Md. Nurul Kobir conducted the other important proceedings of the successful meeting.

The club also warmly welcomed prospective members Shonge Ache Foundation President Jasim Uddin Khan and Julekha Akhter Juli, who expressed their interest in joining the Rotary family and contributing to the club’s humanitarian initiatives.
Concluding the meeting, President Rtn. Tanmoy Mazumder, PHF expressed his heartfelt appreciation to every member for attending despite the adverse weather conditions. He called upon all Rotarians to work together with dedication, compassion, and unity to expand the club’s humanitarian services and strengthen Rotary fellowship throughout Rotary Year 2026–27.
The successful inaugural meeting reflected the Rotary Club of Dhaka Fort’s renewed commitment to service, leadership, and fellowship, setting a strong foundation for a dynamic and impactful Rotary year ahead.
