Agrani Bank holds Its 19th Annual General Meeting

Agrani Bank PLC. conducted its 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30 Augst 2026 at the bank’s Head Office Board Room. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed. Nazma Mobarek, Secretary of Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance, attended the event as Chief Guest and Government Representative.

Board Directors Dr. Md. Fazlul Hoque, Mohammad Sultan Mahmud, Muzaffar Ahmed(FCMA), Md. Sayed Kutub, and Foyez Ahmed were also present. Managing Director Md. Anwarul Islam, Bangladesh Bank observer Md. Sirajul Islam (Executive Director), Deputy Managing Directors, General Managers, and representatives from the audit firm also joined the meeting. The audited financial statements for the year 2025 were unanimously approved during the session.

In her remarks, the Chief Guest, Nazma Mobarek, discussed the bank’s business targets and expressed her optimism that Agrani Bank would demonstrate even stronger performance in all financial indicators and continue to lead as a top state-owned commercial bank. Chairman Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed reviewed the 2025 financials and expressed satisfaction with the bank’s achievements across all key business metrics. Managing Director Md. Anwarul Islam presented an overview of the bank’s performance in areas such as loan recovery, deposits, lending, operating profit, import-export activities, remittance inflow, and service expansion. He highlighted the bank’s growing contribution to both the national economy and social development.

In 2025, Agrani Bank’s total assets rose to Tk. 1,42,661 crore from Tk. 1,28,106 crore in 2024, reflecting 14,555core or 11.36% growth. Interest-earning assets increased in 2025 85,921crore from 83,066 crore by 3.43%. The bank’s total investment stood at Tk. 80,573 crore,from 79,037 crore increased 1,536 crore. This marks a 1.94% increase over 2025. In 2025 Deposits stood at Tk. 1,13,029 crore, up Tk. 13,797 crore or 13.90%  from the previous year. 55,744 crore low or no-interest deposits. The Advance- deposit (AD)  ratio was 71.29%.

The bank posted an operating profit of Tk.2,334 crore in 2025 which in Previous Year 1,511 Crore Increased 823 Crore or 54.46%. operational costs remained within the limits agreed upon with Bangladesh Bank MOU. Operating Cost Decreased 7.08% from the year 2024. Provisioning reached Tk. 10,557 crore up 16.22% from the previous year. In 2025 Operational Capability Increased ,As a result indigator of Oparational Skill such as Cost of Income Ratio,Return of Asset (ROA),Return Of Investment (ROI), Return Of Equity (ROE) Increased Sufficient.

Agrani Bank Collected foreign remittance In 2025 Tk. 33,961 crore which was Previous Year 21,033 crore indicates, 61.46% increase. The bank also played a major role in trade finance. Import transactions totaled Tk. 54,367 crore, reflecting a 7.47% growth over 2024. On the other hand, Export transactions reached Tk. 13,252 crore, Classified loans stood at Tk. 30,940 crore in 2025 which was in previous Year 32,002 Core, Deceased CL 1,062 Crore From Previous Year (2024). The bank made significant strides in loan recovery, retrieving Tk. 10,234 crore, including Tk. 1,009 crore in cash.

Agrani Bank PLC. continues to operate with efficient leadership and skilled human resources, contributing actively to national development. In his closing remarks, the Managing Director reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to delivering improved customer service, achieving higher business growth, and strengthening institutional reputation in 2026 and beyond.
