Sharp Decline on DSE as Turnover Slumps

On Wednesday (October 15), the fourth trading day of the week, trading at the nation’s primary stock exchange — the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) — concluded with a drop in the key indices. The majority of corporate stock prices fell, and the overall revenue in financial terms also declined.

According to sources from the Dhaka Stock Exchange:

The benchmark index DSEX fell by 80.75 points, settling at 5,116 points.

The DSES index declined by 20.28 points to 1,091 points.

The DS30 index dropped by 28.59 points, closing at 1,967 points.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at BDT 4.87 billion (487.62 crore), which is significantly lower than the BDT 6.06 billion (606.42 crore) recorded on the previous trading day.

On the DSE today, a total of 396 companies’ shares and units were traded. Among them:

Prices increased for 33 companies,

Decreased for 328 companies, and

Remained unchanged for 35 companies.
