B.Mirror Desk: Bangladesh Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates Md. Rasheduzzaman has urged the immediate formation of a joint business council between the two countries to increase bilateral trade and further strengthen mutual economic relations between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He has sought the cooperation of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) in this regard.
On September 29, 2026 (Tuesday), FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Haque paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Consul General Md. Rasheduzzaman in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the formation of the Bangladesh-United Arab Emirates Joint Business Council.
In the meeting, the Consul General said that the proposal to form a joint business council between the two countries has been under discussion for a long time. However, now the businessmen of the United Arab Emirates have expressed renewed interest in increasing bilateral trade with Bangladesh and forming a joint business council. He expressed optimism that if this initiative is implemented, it will increase mutual cooperation between the businessmen of the two countries and also resolve visa-related complications quickly. Administrator Md. Fazlul Haque promised to take necessary and effective steps on behalf of the FBCCI to form the business council.
The meeting focused on Bangladesh’s access to the global halal product market, including the Middle East, and the expansion of exports. FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Haque called for the cooperation of the Bangladesh Consulate General in exporting Bangladeshi halal products to Muslim countries. Both sides expressed their interest in working together in this regard.
Ashish Kumar Sarkar, Commercial Counselor of Bangladesh in Dubai, was present at the meeting. He said that several top companies in Dubai have already expressed interest in participating in the ready-made garments fair to be held in Bangladesh under the initiative of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). He suggested that the organizers formally invite these companies to the fair.
Meanwhile, top Bangladeshi businessmen in Dubai paid a courtesy call on FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Haque on Wednesday. They held fruitful discussions on increasing the export of Bangladeshi products to the Middle East market and opening new trade opportunities.
