Inflation downs slightly in April

B Mirror Desk : In April, Bangladesh’s point-to-point inflation rate decreased slightly to 9.17 percent, down from 9.35 percent in March, according to data from the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The inflation rate had previously surged to a 13-month peak of 11.38 percent in November during the fiscal year 2024-25, but began to decline in the following months of December, January, February, and March.

Official figures indicate that inflation fell to 10.89 percent in December, 9.94 percent in January, and 9.32 percent in February. The slight decrease in April’s inflation rate can be attributed to reductions in both food and non-food item prices in March.

Specifically, non-food inflation dropped to 9.61 percent in April from 9.70 percent in March, while food inflation decreased to 8.63 percent from 9.93 percent.
