B Mirror Report: The government has reduced the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level, bringing relief to users after previous price hikes.
In a notification issued on Tuesday (June 2), the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced that the price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder has been reduced by Tk 55, bringing the new price down to Tk 1,885 from the previous Tk 1,940. The revised prices came into effect at 6:00 pm the same day.
BERC also announced a reduction in the price of auto gas, which has been set at Tk 86.93 per litre, down from Tk 89.50 per litre.
Earlier, on April 19, the price of a 12-kg LPG cylinder was increased by Tk 212 to Tk 1,940. Before that, on April 2, the price had been raised by Tk 387 to Tk 1,727. In total, the price had increased by Tk 599 over two adjustments before the latest reduction.
The latest revision marks a downward adjustment after consecutive price hikes in recent months, offering some relief to consumers.
