According to Principal Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, the provisional government put in place by the July Uprising is committed to transforming youth into public assets and creating employment opportunities in order to build a new Bangladesh free from discrimination.
In a statement issued on Monday in observance of July 15, also known as “World Youth Skills Day,” he said, “I am glad to know that ‘World Youth Skills Day’ is being commemorated on July 15 like every year at the call of the United Nations.”
The Principal Adviser stated, ‘A skilled workforce is crucial for accelerating our national development, fulfilling the varied labor demands in the industrial sector, and ensuring greater employment for workers in the global market. In the evolving global landscape, leveraging modern technology is indispensable for transforming our youth into a skilled workforce. Therefore, I find the theme for this year’s UNESCO-UNEVOC-designated day – ‘Empowering Youth through Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills’ to be highly relevant.
He mentioned that the government is actively taking and implementing various measures to provide training for youth and create job opportunities tailored to the labor market’s requirements both domestically and internationally. Beyond addressing local market needs, I am confident that Bangladesh’s current status in exporting skilled labor will strengthen in the future. The National Skill Development Authority (NSDA) is collaborating with public and private entities to establish a skill development ecosystem. I urge for the enhancement of all organizational activities aimed at cultivating skilled youth resources.
Professor Muhammad Yunus remarked that to build a modern and developed Bangladesh, it is essential to enhance the skills of the youth to align with the evolving workplace and entrepreneurial demands. I anticipate that ‘World Youth Skills Day, 2025’ will significantly contribute to raising awareness in this area.
The Chief Advisor expressed wishes for the overall success of all initiatives launched in honor of ‘World Youth Skills Day’.
