Gail Martin, acting country director of the World Bank assigned to Bangladesh, has expressed hope to provide budget support to Bangladesh in the energy and power sector by next December.
He expressed such hope in a meeting with advisor Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan at the conference room of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Tuesday (September 10).
In the meeting, the energy adviser highlighted the situation of the country’s electricity and energy sector and discussed in detail about receiving the World Bank’s budget support in this sector.
Meanwhile, Gail Martin said that the World Bank is interested in working sincerely with the current government. In the meantime, discussions have been held with the Governor and Finance Advisor of Bangladesh Bank regarding the budget support. Budget support may be given to energy and power sector by next December.
