B Mirror Desk : A Turkish Airlines aircraft experienced an engine fire shortly after departing from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, carrying 290 passengers. The incident took place around 7 am on Tuesday, May 20. Reports indicate that flight TK713, an Airbus A330-303, took off for Istanbul at 7 am.
Approximately 15 minutes into the flight, the pilot detected a spark in one of the two engines and promptly decided to return.
The aircraft circled for about an hour and a half before safely landing in an emergency at 8:15 am. Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, Executive Director of Shahjalal International Airport, confirmed that the spark was observed shortly after takeoff, possibly due to a bird strike. Fortunately, all passengers were unharmed. Airport officials reported that passengers were disembarked and arrangements were made for their accommodation at a hotel.
It is also noteworthy that on May 16, a Bangladesh Biman flight departing from Cox’s Bazar International Airport experienced a collapse of its left landing gear, but thanks to the pilot’s expertise, it landed safely with 71 passengers on board, including children.
