Al-Arafah Islami Bank grants permanent status to 177 employees

Al-Arafah Islami Bank PLC has made 177 temporary employees permanent following a longstanding demand from its Employees’ Welfare Union, ending years of employment uncertainty for the workers.

The decision took effect on 1 September 2026. Many of the employees have worked at the bank since its inception, according to a press release.

The Employees’ Welfare Union (CBA B-2241) welcomed the decision, saying it would strengthen job security, boost morale and encourage greater commitment to the bank.

Union President Md Majedul Islam said the move had fulfilled a longstanding expectation among colleagues who had spent years working on a temporary basis.

“We sincerely welcome this positive and humane decision by the bank authorities and express our gratitude. We believe it will further strengthen employees’ morale and motivation and encourage them to work with greater responsibility and dedication,” he said.

Union General Secretary Nasir Uddin said making the 177 employees permanent had renewed their confidence and enthusiasm.

“We hope our colleagues will use their experience, skills and dedication to play a greater role in improving the bank’s service quality and overall development,” he said.

He added that the union would continue to play a responsible and constructive role in promoting employee welfare and the bank’s broader interests.

Union leaders expressed hope that the decision would improve the working environment and strengthen employees’ sense of responsibility and commitment to the institution.
