Training workshop held for selected jute farmers in Magura

Faruk Magura Correspondent: A training workshop was conducted for selected jute farmers as part of the “Advanced Technology Based Jute and Jute Seed Production and Expansion Project” under the Jute Department in Magura Sadar Upazila-2025. This event took place on Monday, June 2, at 9:30 am in the conference room of the Magura Sadar Upazila Parishad, organized by the Magura Sadar Upazila Administration and the Magura Sadar Jute Department, Ministry of Textiles and Jute.

The program was presided over by Md. Hasibul Hasan, the Executive Officer of Magura Sadar Upazila. Additionally, Satyakam Sen, the Joint Secretary General and Director General (Responsibility) of the Dhaka Jute Department, addressed the farmers through a video call. Other speakers included Prakash Chandra Sarkar, Additional Deputy Director (Horticulture) of the Magura Agricultural Extension Department Khamarbari, Krishibid Md. Tozammel Hossain, Agriculture Officer of Magura Sadar Upazila, and Md. Mahabubul Islam, the District Jute Development Officer, along with Deputy Assistant Md. Mominuzzaman from the Magura Sadar Jute Development Office, who all contributed to the training workshop.

A total of 75 farmers attended the workshop, where discussions revolved around the production, storage, and monitoring of jute and jute seed varieties, specifically Robi-1 and 9897 Tosha.

Md. Mahabubul Islam, the Magura District Jute Development Officer, stated, “To cultivate jute, it is essential to use a closed mixer for spraying. By combining 357 grams of mulberry, 356 grams of lime, and 18 liters of water, you will achieve a sky blue color, which acts as a fungicide in jute fields.”
