Finance advisor. Salehuddin Ahmed said, there is no denying that people are in trouble due to high inflation. However, the government has already taken several initiatives to reduce it. As a result of this, we have to wait for another 2 to 3 months for inflation to come down.
He said this in response to the questions of journalists after the meeting of the advisory council committee on government procurement at the secretariat on Tuesday.
He also said that the government will take some more steps to control the prices of daily commodities during the upcoming fast. As a result of these initiatives, the government expects that the average price inflation will come down to 6 to 7 percent by next June.
Incidentally, according to the data published by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the monthly overall inflation has been above 9 percent for more than two and a half years. In December, the overall inflation was 10.89 percent. But at the same time, food inflation was 12.92 percent. In July, food inflation rose to 14.10 percent.
