Stock market losses were severe as a result of the non-cooperation movement.

On the first day of the non-cooperation movement called by the anti-discrimination student movement, the stock market fell sharply on Sunday (04 August).

At the beginning of the transaction on this day, the shares and funds of more than two hundred companies became unsold. After 5 minutes of trading, the main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) index lost 102 points.

Then as time passed, the number of companies without buyers also increased. After one hour of trading, the shares and funds of more than three hundred companies are seen without buyers. DSE’s main index lost more than 115 points during this period. which settled at over 104 points in the last adjustment price.

Sunday market review

On Sunday, DSE’s main index DSEX fell by 105 points to 5229 points. The previous day, the DSEX rose by 53 points.

Shares and units worth Tk 207 crore 83 lakh were traded in DSE that day. 552 crore 76 lakh taka was traded on the previous day. 344 crores 93 lakhs or 62 percent in transactions compared to the previous day.

Among the 397 companies traded on DSE on the day, share and unit prices increased by 6 or 1.51 percent. And the rate decreased by 372 or 93.70 percent and the rate did not change by 19 or 4.79 percent.
