South Korea to Invest $8 Million in Mongla EPZ

South Korean firm OCF Company Limited plans to establish a factory in Mongla EPZ with an investment of 8 million 60 thousand US dollars aimed at producing tents and tent accessories, camping furniture, furniture accessories, and bags.

The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has entered into an agreement with the company for this initiative. The signing ceremony took place at the BEPZA Executive Office in Dhaka on Wednesday (August 6).This information was given in a press release by BEPZA.

The announcement indicated that Md. Ashraful Kabir, BEPZA Member (Investment Development), and Hyeun Gil Kim, Chairman of OCF Company Limited, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. The agreement signing ceremony was witnessed by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman.

The South Korean firm is set to produce tents, tent and furniture accessories, camping chairs and tables, aluminum, carbon, ski and trekking poles, mountain and walking sticks, bed cots, stands, pet furniture, arrows, and bags, which will generate job opportunities for 820 Bangladeshi citizens.

During the event, the BEPZA Executive Chairman emphasized that BEPZA consistently promotes investment in diverse manufacturing sectors. As this marks the company’s second project under BEPZA, he expressed gratitude to OCF Company Limited for their confidence in BEPZA and encouraged them to act as an ‘ambassador’ in attracting further South Korean investments, particularly in EPZs. He reaffirmed BEPZA’s dedication to ensuring a secure and supportive environment for investors.

At that moment, Hyeun Gil Kim expressed his appreciation to BEPZA for their assistance and conveyed his optimism about commencing production in the new factory by the following year.

Present at the agreement signing ceremony were BEPZA Member (Engineering) Md. Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Finance) ANM Faizul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Development) Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Public Relations) ASM Anwar Parvez, along with other representatives from the organization.
