Salman and Shibli Rubaiyat team looted 8 billion taka

B Mirror Desk: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Salman F. Rahman, former Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Advisor and former Chairman of IFIC Bank PLC, and Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam, former Chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), and 30 senior officials.

The case alleges that they overvalued mortgage properties through fraud and deceit and embezzled Tk 8 billion from investors against bonds.

Assistant Director Sajjad Hossain filed the case at the ACC’s Dhaka Integrated District Office on Wednesday (April 16). ACC Director General Md. Akhter Hossain confirmed the incident.

The accused in the case include Salman F. Rahman, his son Ahmed Shayan Fazlur Rahman, the bank’s former MD Md. Shah Alam Sarwar, former independent director Sudhangshu Shekhar Biswas, ARM Nazmus Shakib, Kamrun Nahar Ahmed, former directors Rabeya Jamali, Golam Mostafa, Md. Zafar Iqbal, IFIC Bank PLC Deputy Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer Syed Mansur Mostafa, Head of Loan Performance Management Shah Md. Moinuddin, Deputy Managing Director Md. Rafiqul Islam, Gitank Devdeep Dutta, Md. Nurul Hasnat and Monitur Rahman, the bank’s Head of Treasury Mohammad Shahin Uddin, former branch manager and FVP of Dhanmondi branch Nazimul Haque, former manager Hossain Shah Ali, Relationship Manager Sardar Md. Mominul Islam, SPO Ayesha Siddika and FADP Sylvia Chowdhury, a total of 30 senior officials.
