Rail services along the Dhaka-Mymensingh route have been interrupted due to a fire that broke out in the power carriage of the Mohua Commuter Train in Sreepur, Gazipur.
According to Mohammad Mamun, the Deputy Assistant Director of the district’s Fire Service, the incident occurred at the Satkhamair Rail Station around 10:30 AM on Thursday.
Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries.
Mamun explained, “The power car of the Mohua Commuter Train, which was headed to Mymensingh, caught fire upon arriving at Satkhamair. Upon receiving the alert, two firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire after approximately an hour.”
“Efforts are currently underway to recover the train,” he added.
Khairul Islam, the police chief of Joydebpur, stated, “Train operations on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route have been halted due to the fire incident. Higher authorities have been notified.”
