BM Desk : In order to attend the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived in Bangkok Thursday afternoon.

In addition to meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Yunus will meet with other BIMSTEC leaders during the BIMSTEC Summit. Since it will take over as the group’s chairman for the next two years, Bangladesh views this year’s BIMSTEC Summit, which is set for April 4, as “very important” for the nation. According to officials this week, Dhaka also believes the summit will give them a chance to showcase a “just and inclusive” Bangladesh to South and Southeast Asia.

The Chief Adviser will give a keynote address at the BIMSTEC Young Generation Forum on Thursday, titled “BIMSTEC Young Generation Forum: Where the Future Meets,” ahead of this year’s BIMSTEC Summit. Three years after the fifth summit (Virtual, Colombo, March 30, 2022), the sixth summit will have as its theme “Prosperous, Resilient, and Open BIMSTEC.”. According to the BIMSTEC Secretariat, the summit will give the ongoing efforts to realize the goal of a prosperous, resilient, and open BIMSTEC a new boost.

The summit’s objective is to promote cooperation among the member states to address the shared security and developmental challenges. The summi was stated by Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin.
