Rakib Bagerhat Correspondent: Patients at the 250-bed Bagerhat Sadar Hospital are suffering due to a two-month-long shortage of the Rabix rabies vaccine, used to treat dog and cat bite victims. As the hospital remains out of stock, patients are being forced to buy the vaccine from pharmacies at a cost of 500 taka per dose, which has become a major burden, especially for the poor and underprivileged.
Even hospital staff have reported facing difficulties due to the unavailability of the vaccine.
Dr. Asim Kumar Samaddar, Director of the hospital, stated that the vaccine is currently unavailable through government supply.
“We’ve already submitted a demand letter, and we’re hopeful that once the supply resumes, all patients will receive the necessary treatment,” he added.
