B Mirror Report: The four-day-long Deputy Commissioner (DC) Conference has officially begun in the capital, inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The Prime Minister arrived at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at around 10:30 am on Sunday (May 3) and formally opened the conference. The opening ceremony featured an unusual scene as the Prime Minister walked from his office in the Secretariat to the venue earlier at around 10:20 am, drawing public attention.
Along the route, citizens, government officials, and people from various professions gathered on both sides of the road. The Prime Minister exchanged greetings with them, waved in response, and briefly stopped to speak with some individuals.
The four-day conference has brought together all Deputy Commissioners and senior district-level officials from across the country. Discussions will focus on the implementation of government development programmes, improving administrative efficiency at the district level, enhancing public service delivery, and addressing local challenges.
Officials said a wide range of proposals will be reviewed during the conference to strengthen coordination between central and field administration.
The public interaction and the Prime Minister’s walk were widely viewed as a positive and people-friendly gesture.
