The biennial election of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious business organizations, was held peacefully and festively on Saturday amid great enthusiasm among businessmen and industrialists across Chattogram.
The full panel led by prominent industrialist and business leader Mohammad Amirul Haque under the banner of the United Business Forum secured a sweeping victory in the much-awaited election.
Mohammad Amirul Haque is a well-known leader in the cement and energy sectors and has also served in leading roles in various trade and industrial organizations, including the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
Voting began at 9:00 am and continued uninterrupted until 4:00 pm. The results were officially announced by Monowara Begum, Chairman of the Election Board and Director of the Chattogram Local Government Division.
In the election, 12 directors were elected from the Ordinary Group and six from the Associate Group through direct voting. In addition, three candidates each from the Trade Group and Town Association Group were elected uncontested. A total of 24 directors were elected from four different categories.
The elected directors are: Kamal Mostafa Chowdhury, ASM Ismail Khan, Abu Haider Chowdhury, Md. Amzad Hossain Chowdhury, Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, Asad Iftekhar, Aman Ullah Al Sagir, Md. Golam Sarwar, Habibur Rahman, Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Mohammad Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, Shahidul Alam, Md. Zahidul Hasan, Md. Nurul Islam, Selim Nur, Sarwar Alam Khan, Mohammad Mashiul Alam, Mohammad Alauddin Al Azad, Mohammad Amirul Haque, Mohammad Akhtar Parvez, SM Saiful Alam, Afsar Hasan Chowdhury, Mohammad Monir Uddin, and Mohammad Sazzad Un Nawaz.
