Permanent closure of 4 factories of Kaya Group

Four factories of Kaya Group in Zarun of Konabari police station of Gazipur city have been declared permanently closed from May 1. According to a notice dated December 31, as per the provisions of the Labor Act, all dues of workers, officials and employees will be paid within 30 working days of the closure of the factory.

Earlier, the factory was declared closed for an indefinite period on December 29 due to the labor movement. Later, it was decided to reopen the factory on January 1, 2026, through the mediation of the joint forces. Accordingly, the factory opened on January 1 and production began.

During this process, a notice to close the factory was given on December 31. However, the factories are currently operating as usual. If there are no other problems, the factory will remain open until April 30.

The matter was confirmed by the assistant manager of Kaya Group. He said that the factories have been operating since January 1. They will remain open until April 30. The officials and employees will receive their dues. The factory will be closed permanently from May 1.

The factories that Keya Group has announced to close from May 1 are: Keya Cosmetics Limited (Knit Composite Garments Division, Knitting Division, Spinning Division, Cotton Division) and Keya Yarn Mills Ltd. in the Zarun area of Konabari, Gazipur.

In the notice of permanent closure of the factory, the authorities have blamed the current market instability, mismatch of accounts with the bank, insufficiency of raw materials and inadequacy of the factory’s production activities as the reasons for the closure.

The notice signed by the Managing Director of Keya Group and Chairman of Keya Cosmetics Limited (Knit Composite Division) has been pasted at the main gate of the factory.

Earlier, workers of the Keya Group factory had been protesting and striking since December 29 demanding their November arrears. Several thousand workers blocked Kashimpur Regional Road in Konabari area in front of the factory and protested for 10 points, including arrears of wages. On that day, the authorities declared the factory closed indefinitely after not paying the workers their arrears of wages and issued a notice.
