The government has established the ‘National Pay Commission-2025’ to assess the new salary framework for employees in government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, state-owned banks, investment institutions, government universities, and industrial establishments.
Former Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan has been designated as the chairman of the commission.
On Sunday (July 27), the Ministry of Finance released a notification regarding this matter.
The notification stated that the ‘National Pay Commission, 2025’ will be constituted to evaluate the new salary structure for officials and employees under the republic’s jurisdiction in accordance with Section 15 of the Government Services Act, 2018.
Zakir Ahmed Khan, the former Finance Secretary, has been appointed as the chairman of the commission. The full-time members include former Secretary Dr. Mohammad Ali Khan, former Comptroller General of Accounts Md. Moslem Uddin, and former Ambassador Md. Fazlul Karim.
Additionally, over 15 former high-ranking officials, academicians, regulators, and business representatives have been appointed as part-time members.
Prominent individuals include former Auditor General and Comptroller Ahmed Ataul Hakim, Chairman of the Accounting Department at Dhaka University Professor Md. Makshudur Rahman Sarkar, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Md. Habibur Rahman, BIDS Director General Professor AK Enamul Haque, FBCCI President, among others.
The member secretary of the commission will be a secretary or additional secretary appointed by the Ministry of Public Administration. The notification also indicated that the commission has the authority to co-opt additional members as necessary.
