All throughout the nation, including the capital Dhaka, meetings, seminars, and human connections are taking place with name-and-anonymous organizations and rights movements. These movements and seminars are primarily being held by involved businessmen and various organizations, even though the motivation behind them is not readily apparent. When targeted, some people remain extremely composed, while other businesspeople or companies are questioned and extorted for large sums of money under the guise of “rights collection.” Numerous such groups have been discovered by intelligence agencies.
One such group is “Damaged Electronics Traders Oikya Parishad.” Under the auspices of this organization, a letter was sent to different media outlets on February 8. According to the letter, on February 11, a human chain will be placed in front of the National Press Club. The intriguing thing, though, is that the letter was sent to the media on February 8 even though its date is listed as February 10. The name of this eponymous organization appears at Raisal Ashulia Savar’s address, despite the absence of the sender’s address.
The reporter later got in touch with the sender. He claimed to have followed instructions from above. The query is, how did you sign the letter with advance notice on February 8th, given that you stated the date of the letter was February 10th? Jahangir Alam Razir, the letter’s sender, replied that he followed instructions and had no further knowledge. Does the organization have a registration under the letter’s banner? “No,” he replied, but someone from Dhaka suggested that he send this letter, so he did so and signed it.
The investigators are known to have discovered dozens of these groups, not just one or two, who at different who at various times use the names of these organizations for extortion purposes.
It is well known that Jahangir Alam Rajar has spent the last ten years actively participating in Savar’s Raisal local Jubo League politics. He was formerly employed by Beximco Group. For the past few months, this Jubo League employee has been involved in a number of movements, primarily with funding from the Beximco Group.
Since August 5, Babul Chowdhury, another Baishal Awami League leader, has referred to the leader of the rights movement. He is also charged with extorting money and bringing people together under the guise of different organizations.
However, intelligence reports indicate that these subversive groups are also active behind the scenes of industrial factories in Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur, Chala, and Shashripur under the guise of labor activism.
