Khokan Bikash Tripura Jack, Khagrachhari Correspondent: Under the theme “In Celebration of Youth — Let’s Change the Nation, Let’s Change the World,” a month-long swimming training program for boys under the age of 15 has begun in Khagrachhari. The initiative is organized by the District Sports Office as part of the annual program of the Khagrachhari District Sports Council for 2025–26.
The training program was formally inaugurated on Thursday (October 16) afternoon at the Sadar Upazila Parishad pond. The inaugural ceremony was chaired by District Sports Officer Harun Ar Rashid, while Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nusrat Jabin attended as the chief guest.
Among the special guests were Nyo Hla Mong, Director of the Institute of Small Ethnic Cultural Affairs, and Madal Barua, Member of the Ad-hoc Committee of the District Sports Association, along with other members of the sports body.
During the event, speakers emphasized that learning to swim is crucial in hilly regions like Khagrachhari. Teaching children swimming from an early age not only helps prevent drowning accidents but also contributes to their physical and mental development. They added that swimming is not merely a sport but a life-saving skill that enhances confidence and discipline.
Speakers also highlighted that such initiatives by the District Sports Office will inspire the younger generation to take part in sports and could help nurture future national-level swimming talents from the region.
Notably, the month-long training program aims to improve swimming skills among boys under 15, while also enhancing their physical fitness through regular practice. A total of 30 young trainees are participating in this extensive training session.
