Mercantile Bank elects M A Khan Belal as chairman

Mercantile Bank PLC has elected M A Khan Belal as the chairman of its board of directors.

The decision was taken at the bank’s 490th board meeting held on July 30, according to a statement from the bank.

Before assuming the new role, Khan Belal served as chairman of the bank’s Executive Committee.

He is the chairman of Samrat Group of Companies and has extensive business experience across commerce, industry, shipping and banking.

Khan Belal also serves as the elected president of the Noakhali Zila Samity. In addition to his business activities, he is actively involved in social welfare, education and healthcare initiatives. He has established several schools, madrasas and mosques in Begumganj, Noakhali.
