Hakkani Pulp to invest in production, rooftop solar projects

Listed company Hakkani Pulp & Paper Mills Ltd. has approved two new investment projects aimed at boosting production capacity and improving energy efficiency.

The decisions were approved at the company’s board meeting held on August 1 and disclosed by the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday.

According to the disclosure, the board has approved the purchase of an FTC500 Twin Screw Press (Double Helix Crowded Pulp Machine) for its paper manufacturing unit at an estimated cost of Tk7.2 million, to be financed entirely from the company’s own funds.

The new machine will replace an existing unit and is expected to improve production efficiency, enhance pulp dewatering capacity, increase fibre recovery, reduce maintenance costs, and strengthen overall operational performance.

The company said the investment is expected to support long-term growth and create sustainable value for shareholders.

The board also gave in-principle approval for the installation of a 615 kWp DC (500 kW AC) rooftop solar power system at its factory.

The solar project will cost approximately Tk26 million, with the entire investment to be funded through internal resources.

According to the company, the rooftop solar system will improve energy efficiency, reduce reliance on the national power grid, and support sustainable manufacturing operations. The project will be implemented in phases, subject to operational requirements and fund availability.
