Maritime Anti-Corruption Network holds working group meeting

The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) Bangladesh, held its first Working Group Meeting on Tuesday, at the conference room of Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh (SCB), reads a press release. 

The objective of the meeting was to discuss corruption issues in the Maritime Sector in Bangladesh and possible mitigation measures.

The meeting was presided by Mr. Rezaul Karim, Chairman, Shippers’ Council of Bangladesh, Ms. Shahamin Zaman, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Network Bangladesh and Syed Ariful Islam, Project Lead of MACN Bangladesh were present in the meeting. 

SCB Senior Vice Chairman Ariful Ahsan & Vice Chairman Ganesh Chandra Saha also attended the meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives from various shipping associations and companies, as well as officials from the SCB.

The participants exchanged views and experiences on the challenges and risks of corruption in the maritime industry, and explored potential solutions and best practices to promote integrity and transparency in port operations and cargo clearance processes.

MACN is a global business network working to end corruption in the Maritime sector globally.
