CSE, 9 brokers visit India’s MCX for commodity exchange preparation

Officials from the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) and nine leading brokerage firms are visiting India’s Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) in Mumbai as part of preparations to launch a commodity exchange in Bangladesh.

The delegation, led by CSE Deputy General Manager AKM Shahroz Alam and Assistant General Manager Md Faisal Huda, has been visiting MCX since August 30 to gain practical experience in commodity derivatives trading, risk management, operational procedures and technology integration.

As part of the visit, a workshop titled “Operational Aspects of Commodity Derivatives: A Brokerage Perspective” was held on August 30 in Mumbai. The delegation also visited the MCX India office on September 1 and attended a presentation on exchange-to-broker operational procedures.

Representatives of LankaBangla Securities, One Securities, B Rich, Bank Asia Securities, Pubali Bank Securities, UCB Stock Brokerage, Island Securities, MTB Securities and NLI Securities are participating in the visit.

The CSE said the delegation is scheduled to visit several more brokerage offices on September 2. The initiative is expected to help local brokers develop operational, risk-management and technological capabilities ahead of the launch of commodity exchange trading in Bangladesh.
