BM Report:
The Ministry of Lands has announced a new 180-day special program to improve efficiency and transparency in land services across 16 districts. This initiative comes under the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption and its commitment to smart land management.
The program will focus on providing user-friendly services through a centralized platform. Land Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman, speaking at a workshop on Tuesday, highlighted the launch of interconnected services for Mutation, Khatian (land records), and Land Development Tax. Citizens will be able to access all three services through a single login on the Land Service Gateway (LSG). This integration will streamline document verification, holding number issuance, and land tax determination.
The program also emphasizes timely delivery of services like “Namazari” (land surveys and records) and Khatian. Land officers have been instructed to ensure all Namazari and survey records are uploaded to the system.
Land Secretary Rahman urged officials to draw inspiration from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s dedication to land rights. He emphasized the importance of efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly land management in achieving the vision of “Smart Sonar Bangla” (Golden Bengal) as envisioned by the Prime Minister.
The effectiveness of this program will be monitored for 180 days in these 16 districts, 32 upazilas (sub-districts), and 64 Union/Circle Land Offices. The initial implementation areas include: Dhaka District: Tejgaon, Dhanmondi, Ramna Circle, and Dhamrai Upazila Land Offices
Gopalganj District: Tungipara Upazila Land Office. Faridpur District: Faridpur Sadar and Boalmari Upazila Land Offices. Manikganj District: Singhair Upazila Land Office. Chittagong District: Agrabad Circle and Anwara Upazila Land Offices. Khulna District: Dumuria, Phultala, and Rupsa Upazila Land Offices. Jessore District: Jessore Sadar Upazila Land Office. Rajshahi District: Godagari and Paba Upazila Land Offices.
Following a successful pilot program, the Ministry aims to expand this initiative across Bangladesh.
