B Mirror Report: Listed pharmaceutical company Indo-Bangla Pharmaceuticals Ltd has provided an explanation to the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) regarding a report published online on September 24 about workers protesting the closure of its factory in Barishal.
The company submitted the explanation in response to a query letter sent by the DSE on October 6, according to DSE sources.
In its response, Indo-Bangla Pharmaceuticals said an incident occurred on September 13 following allegations that several workers verbally harassed an employee. The incident temporarily disrupted operations at the factory, it said.
The company said the matter was subsequently investigated and legal action was taken.
According to the company, several workers identified as responsible for the incident created disorder on the factory premises and obstructed normal production activities. The company said it took necessary measures against them in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Indo-Bangla Pharmaceuticals said factory operations have been peaceful and normal since September 27.
The company also said the incident had no adverse impact on its normal business activities and that there was no uncertainty over its ability to continue operations or its going-concern status as a result of the incident.
