Illegal Gas Connections Disconnected in Tangail

Mrinal Kanti Roy, Tangail Correspondent: A mobile court operation led by Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC in Mirzapur, Tangail, resulted in the disconnection of numerous illegal residential gas connections and the imposition of fines totaling Tk 220,000.
The day-long drive was conducted on Tuesday, November 11, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Sharmin Sultana, in collaboration with the district administration. During the operation, approximately 550 feet of 3/4-inch illegal gas pipelines were removed from residential areas.
Authorities disconnected double illegal gas connections from two multi-storey buildings, which had a total of 32 stoves. Additionally, 42 semi-pucca houses with 120 stoves were found to have unauthorized double connections, which were also severed.
The mobile court filed six cases under relevant sections of the Bangladesh Gas Act, 2010, resulting in the collection of Tk 220,000 in fines.
Present during the operation were Engineer Jewel Rana, Manager of the Tangail Zonal Sales Office; Government Engineer Ramzan Ali; Assistant Engineer Md. Kamruzzaman; along with members of the police and Ansar forces.
