Govt Assures Investor Protection in Five-Bank Merger

The Ministry of Finance has stated that the government has not taken any decision that would harm the interests of investors in the proposed merger of five Islamic banks.

This information was disclosed in a statement signed by Gazi Touhidul Islam, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Finance, on Monday (October 12).

The statement said: “A vested group has recently been spreading rumors on social media claiming that investors will be harmed in the process of merging five Islamic banks. The matter has come to the attention of the government.”

It further stated that the government has not taken any decision that would negatively affect investors’ interests. The government is seriously evaluating and reviewing the matter to ensure investors’ interests are protected in the bank merger process.

The statement also mentioned that the rumors are completely baseless and unfounded. Everyone is urged to remain cautious about such misleading information.
