Gemini Sea Food didn’t get approval to pay bonus dividend

Listed company Gemini Sea Food Plc is yet to get approval from the regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) to pay the declared bonus dividend to shareholders.

According to sources, the company had declared a 15 percent dividend for shareholders for the financial year ending June 30, 2024. Out of this 7.5 percent is cash and 7.5 percent is bonus dividend. The company’s dividend record date was set today on December 5. But the record date will not be effective as the BSEC has not approved the dividend payment. The company will fix the new record date after getting consent.

As per law, no company can pay bonus dividend without the approval of BSEC. Therefore, after the declaration of bonus shares, the company applied for the approval of the regulatory body for payment of the bonus shares.

The information is known from Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) sources.
