B Mirror Desk : A gas leak led to an explosion in a residence adjacent to the Ansar Camp in Dakshin Anand Nagar, Badda, resulting in severe burns for five family members, including a woman and a child. They were transported to the emergency unit of the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute around 12:30 am on Friday, May 16.
The victims include Tofazzal Mia (45), his wife Manjura Begum (35), and their daughters Tanisha (4), Mithila (7), and Tanjila (11). Tofazzal, a permanent resident of Chila Rong village in Thakurgaon Sadar, resides with his family on the ground floor of the building.
According to their neighbor, Md. Sharif, who assisted in taking the injured to the hospital, Tofazzal, a laborer at a cement factory, accidentally ignited a match while cooking, causing the gas that had accumulated in the house to explode.
Upon learning of the incident, they promptly transported the victims to the National Burn Institute. Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, a resident physician at the institute, confirmed that five individuals from the same family were admitted to the emergency department due to the gas explosion. Tofazzal suffered 80 percent burns, Manjura 67 percent, Tanjila 66 percent, Mithila 60 percent, and Tanisha 30 percent. Following emergency treatment, they have been moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) and are currently in critical condition due to the severity of their injuries.
