B Mirror Report: Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has described the proposed national budget for fiscal year 2026-27 as a cornerstone for building a welfare-oriented state, saying it has been formulated with the overall welfare of citizens and the country’s future needs in mind.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday while heading to Parliament to attend the budget session, the finance minister said the budget prioritizes the country’s overall development and the improvement of living standards for working people.
He noted that the budget carries added significance as it is being presented under an elected government after a long period, raising public expectations and aspirations. According to the minister, the government has made every effort to reflect those expectations, concerns, and future goals in the budget.
Acknowledging existing economic challenges, Amir Khasru said the budget had been prepared within the country’s financial capacity. He added that the government is working to restore stability to a fragile economy and lay the groundwork for a more prosperous Bangladesh, a vision that is reflected throughout the proposed budget.
The finance minister also highlighted inclusiveness as one of the budget’s most progressive features. He said efforts have been made to ensure that all citizens can participate in national and economic activities and benefit from economic growth.
Despite limited resources, he expressed confidence that the government would work to fully implement the welfare-oriented budget across the country with the participation of all stakeholders.
