Fines on fertilizer dealers in Shailkupa!

The Department of Consumer Rights Protection, Jhenaidah, has fined four fertilizer dealers in Shailkupa, Jhenaidah, for various charges including not having updated registers, not selling fertilizer through cash memos, and selling fertilizer at high prices.

It is learned that BCIC of Hakimpur Union of the upazila has imposed a fine of Tk 30,000 on Messrs. Molla Enterprise of Noman Molla, a fertilizer dealer, under Section 45 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for not updating the register, not having cash memos and selling fertilizer at high prices.

In addition, Messrs. Hamza Traders located in Sadhuhati Bazar was fined Tk 15,000 under Section 40 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for selling fertilizer at a price higher than the government-set price, not having a fertilizer stock register, and not selling fertilizer through cash memos. In addition, Fateha Varieties Store was fined Tk 3,000 for selling seeds without a license and cash memos in Sadhuhati Bazar, and Ma Bija Bhandar was fined Tk 10,000 under Section 37 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 for selling onion seeds at a higher price on Thana Road, not having production and expiry dates on seed packets, and failing to provide proper memos for seed purchases. Nishat Meher, Assistant Director of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection, Jhenaidah, Shailkupa Upazila Agriculture Officer Arifuzzaman and others were present at the time.

Nishat Meher, Assistant Director of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection, Jhenaidah, said that four fertilizer dealers have been fined on various charges. The campaign will continue to ensure consumer rights.
