Fakhrul calls for integrated LGED development plan

B Mirror Report: LGRD and Cooperatives Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday stressed the need for a coordinated and integrated plan to speed up development activities of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

He made the remarks while addressing a review meeting on ongoing LGED projects held at LGED Bhaban in Agargaon.

State Minister Mir Shahe Alam attended the meeting as a special guest.

Speaking as the chief guest, Fakhrul said that strengthening patriotism and maintaining high standards in work are essential to sustain the country’s overall development momentum.

He laid emphasis on formulating and implementing integrated rural-based development plans to uplift the socio-economic condition of people at the grassroots level.

The state minister noted that development initiatives could be made more effective by reducing the number of projects while expanding their coverage across wider areas.

He also stressed prioritising large-scale, integrated projects instead of numerous small, scattered ones to ensure proper utilisation of resources and achieve sustainable and visible outcomes.

The meeting was chaired by Local Government Division Secretary Md Sohidul Hasan. A documentary highlighting LGED’s background and its ongoing development activities was screened at the beginning.

Among others present were LGED Chief Engineer Md Belal Hossain and Director General of the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Inspection Wing Md Mahmudul Hasan.

Speakers at the meeting also underscored the need to improve the quality of project implementation, prevent misuse of public funds and ensure timely completion of development works.
