B Mirror Report: Trade activities at Sonamasjid Land Port in Chapainawabganj resumed on Saturday after a 10-day suspension due to Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Day holidays.
Import and export operations at the port remained closed from March 18 to March 27, said Tipu Sultan, public relations officer of Panama Sonamasjid Port Link Limited, the port operator.
He confirmed that regular trade activities restarted from the morning of March 28, restoring normal operations at the land port.
However, cross-border movement of passport-holding passengers continued uninterrupted during the holiday period despite the suspension of cargo handling.
Jamirul Islam, in-charge of the Sonamasjid Immigration Checkpost, said passenger movement between Bangladesh and India remained normal throughout the holidays, ensuring smooth travel across the border.
With the resumption of import-export activities, business operations at the port have regained momentum, bringing relief to traders and businesses reliant on the route.
