No decision yet on lifting IPL ban, says ministry

B Mirror Report: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today refuted media reports claiming that the ban on broadcasting the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bangladesh has been lifted.

In a press release, the ministry said the decision taken by the previous government to suspend IPL telecasts remains in force.

The clarification came after a report published in The Daily Star and similar coverage by other media outlets suggested that the restriction had been withdrawn.

Rejecting the claims, the ministry stated that no such decision has been made and that the earlier directive to halt IPL broadcasts is still effective.

It also noted that opinions and recommendations have been sought from the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the matter. Further steps will be taken based on their feedback.

The ministry urged all concerned media outlets to promptly publish its clarification in order to dispel confusion created by the reports.
