The overall price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) declined by 1 percent during the outgoing trading week (July 19–23), reflecting a slight decrease in the market’s valuation.
According to the DSE’s weekly market review, the benchmark P/E ratio stood at 9.39 points at the beginning of the week and fell to 9.27 points by the end of the trading period.
As a result, the DSE’s overall P/E ratio dropped by 0.12 points, or approximately 1 percent, over the week.
The P/E ratio is a widely used valuation indicator that measures the relationship between a company’s share price and its earnings per share. A lower P/E ratio generally suggests comparatively lower market valuations, though it does not necessarily indicate the overall performance or direction of the stock market.
