B Mirror Report: The Rotary Club of Dhaka Fort, one of the largest Rotary clubs in Bangladesh, proudly celebrated its historic 850th Regular Meeting on 21 July 2026 at Rupayan Trade Center, marking an extraordinary milestone in the club’s longstanding journey of fellowship, humanitarian service, and community leadership.
The keynote address was delivered by District Governor 2021–22 Barrister Mutasim Billah Faruqui, PHF, PHS, MPHF, MD, who praised the Rotary Club of Dhaka Fort for its sustained excellence and remarkable growth over the years. He commended the club’s outstanding achievements and expressed confidence that it is well-positioned to celebrate its 25th Charter Night in May 2027, encouraging members to continue strengthening Rotary’s ideals of service, fellowship, and leadership.
Held under the leadership of Club President Rtn. Tanmoy Mazumder, PHF, the landmark event brought together past district leaders, past presidents, club leaders, members, Rotaractors, and distinguished guests to celebrate the club’s remarkable legacy while reaffirming its commitment to “Creating Lasting Impact.”
As part of the Historic 850th Regular Meeting, and in observance of Rotary’s Maternal and Child Health Month, the Rotary Club of Dhaka Fort donated financial assitances to support the Pusti Box Project for two pregnant mothers. Under this initiative, each mother and her child will receive nutritional support for eight months, promoting healthier pregnancies and improved child development. The project is chaired by PP Rtn. Shamim Bhuiyan, PHF.
Reflecting on the club’s inspiring journey, Past President Professor Parveen Hassan, MPHF, highlighted the dedication and commitment of generations of Rotarians who have contributed to the club’s success since its inception.
Providing a historical perspective, Charter Secretary and Past President ATM Khairuzaman, PHF, presented a comprehensive overview of the club’s evolution, recalling significant milestones, achievements, and memorable moments that have established the Rotary Club of Dhaka Fort as one of Bangladesh’s leading Rotary clubs.
PDFL Rokeya Faruqui, MD, delivered an inspiring reflection on Rotary’s values, vision, and enduring spirit, encouraging members to preserve the club’s proud heritage while embracing new opportunities for impactful service.
The meeting commenced with President calling the session to order and warmly welcoming members and guests. Throughout the evening, speakers reflected on the club’s rich history, notable achievements, and vision for the future.
Several senior Rotarians and club leaders also addressed the gathering, including Vice President Farzana Haque, PHF; Vice President Muhammad Abu Bakar Siddik, MPHF; Vice President Md. Ahsarul Kader Zahed, PHF, MD; Honorary Treasurer Md. Nurul Kabir; and Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms Jakir Hossain.
Among the club directors and committee leaders present were PP M. Iqbal Kabir, PHF; PP Gautam Paul Ranju, MPHF; PP A. R. Khan Arman, MPHF; PP Gulam Mohiuddin Faruk Swapan; PP Advocate Shimul Parveen, MPHF; Fazle Siddique Md. Yahya, PHF; Md. Sohel Rahman, PHF; Tofazzal Hossain, MPHF; Afroza Akhter, Club Administration Chair; PP Md. Shamim Bhuiyan, PHF; PSCL Building Conflict Prevention Chair Barrister Zillur Rahman; Four-Way Test Chair Mohammad Asraful Hassan, FCA; Youth Service Chair Abu Mansur; and Public Relations Chair Afroza Sultana Rozey.
Each speaker highlighted the club’s achievements and emphasized the importance of unity, leadership, fellowship, and sustained humanitarian service.
Club Honorary Secretary Muhammad Md. Masumul Alam announced the club’s next regular meeting, scheduled for 4 August 2026, while Sergeant-at-Arms Md. Jahidul Islam Sany, PHF, conducted the felicitation of club members’ and spouses’ birthdays and wedding anniversaries.
The celebration was attended by numerous Rotarians, including Rtn. Maksud Ul Haque Bhuiyan, Rtn. Julekha Akter, Rotaract Club President Rtr. Jerin Afrin Nishat, Immediate Past President Rtr. Abu Tanzin Khan Sani, along with many other members and distinguished guests.
Adding excitement to the evening were a Rotary Quiz Competition, Lucky Member Draw, prize distribution, musical performances, poetry recitations, a commemorative group photograph, a ceremonial cake-cutting, and the unveiling of the 850th Regular Meeting Commemorative Flag, making the celebration both memorable and meaningful.
Concluding the program, President Tanmoy Mazumder thanked all distinguished guests, club leaders, members, and organizers for making the club’s 850th Regular Meeting a truly historic occasion. He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to expanding its humanitarian initiatives and continuing to create lasting impact through Rotary’s enduring ideal of Service Above Self.
