In the outgoing week (November 9 to November 13), trading at the country’s main stock market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), took place amid a decline in indices. As a result, within a week, the market capitalization of the DSE fell by nearly Tk 170 billion.

On the last working day of the concluded week, the DSE’s market capitalization stood at Tk 6,739.74 billion. On the last working day of the previous week, the capitalization was Tk 6,909.15 billion. That means, within a week, the DSE’s market capitalization decreased by Tk 169.41 billion, or 2.45%.
All indices of the DSE also declined this week. The main index, DSEX, fell by 265.25 points or 5.34%. Additionally, the DS30 index dropped by 89.36 points or 4.60%, and the DSES index declined by 62.26 points or 5.99%.
Along with the fall in indices, the total turnover at the DSE also decreased. Throughout the week, total turnover stood at Tk 177.177 billion. In the previous week, the total turnover was Tk 242.223 billion. Weekly turnover decreased by Tk 65.046 billion.
The average daily turnover also fell by Tk 13.009 billion or 26.85%. In the current week, the DSE recorded an average daily turnover of Tk 35.435 billion, compared to Tk 48.444 billion in the previous week.
Over the week, shares and mutual fund units of 383 companies were traded at the DSE. Among them, prices increased for 17 companies, decreased for 363, and remained unchanged for 3 companies.
