Janata Bank holds workshop on IFRS-9 expected credit loss implementation

Janata Bank PLC has organized a special training workshop on implementing the Expected Credit Loss (ECL) framework under the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS-9). The day-long workshop was held at the Janata Bank Staff College in Dhaka on June 27.

Janata Bank Chairman Md. Fazlur Rahman, CSP, attended the event as the chief guest, while Managing Director Md. Mujibur Rahman presided over the workshop.

The training was attended by the bank’s deputy managing directors (DMDs), general managers (GMs), and all deputy general managers (DGMs). Around 50 senior executives participated in person, while more than 100 executives joined the programme virtually.

The workshop focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of the IFRS-9 framework and the implementation of the Expected Credit Loss model to strengthen the bank’s financial reporting and risk management practices.
