DSE ends week lower as most stocks decline turnover drops

The country’s main bourse, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), ended the last trading session of the week on Thursday with a broad-based decline as most shares and mutual funds fell, pulling down all major indices and reducing overall turnover.

Market data showed that a total of 389 securities were traded on the DSE. Of them, 113 advanced, 220 declined, while 56 remained unchanged.

Due to widespread price falls, the benchmark DSEX index dropped by 30 points to settle at 5,287 points. The DSES index also fell by 3 points to 1,053 points, while the DS-30 index declined by 4 points to 2,017 points.

Total turnover at the DSE stood at Tk 864.03 crore, down from Tk 887.78 crore in the previous session, reflecting a decrease of around Tk 23.75 crore.

Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed lower, with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) falling by 94 points to 14,806 points.

At the CSE, out of 199 traded issues, 65 advanced, 114 declined, and 20 remained unchanged. Total turnover at the exchange rose to Tk 48.33 crore from Tk 24.31 crore in the previous session, an increase of Tk 24.02 crore.
